GeoThermal Heating and Cooling System
Geothermal Heating and Cooling System, sounds like something from outer space, but its been here for many years.
For two days I got to watch Bill Kelly and Crew of one, install A Geothermal Heating and Cooling System, plus another professional to install a Pump, for the Earth Loop System. I missed the Outside Loop System being installed, it was installed before I got to Indianapolis, Indiana. I went to see the Colts beat the Jaguars in their season opener game. Read more
Why I got interested in a GeoThermal Heating and Cooling System?
First of all, let me tell you why, I'm telling you about a Geothermal Heating System. When I was in Grade School, I use to go home to eat lunch, My home was my dads Tavern, Hold on now. Life in those days, wasn't very easy, everyone worked for the sake of the Family. I would shovel Coal into my dads furnace at the Tavern twice a day. Have you ever heard of coal suet ? That coal suet is nasty. So when a Cooling and Heating System like the Geothermal Heating and Cooling System comes around many Years later I got interested in it, enough to inform you about it.
What is a GeoThermal Heating and Cooling System?
Geothermal uses the earth's stable temperatures to heat and cool your home. The system uses a compressor, and a refrigerant and a indoor heat exchanger with a fan that is then connected to a duck system in your home. There are two types of systems that can be used: Open and Closed-loop. See the attached brochures for more details.
How does geothermal work?
Outside temperatures fluctuate throughout the year, but underground temperatures remain virtually the same year round. Geothermal takes advantage of heat and energy stored in the earth. In the winter, the fluid circulating through the loop system absorbs stored heat and carries it to the home. In the summer, the system reverses and pulls the heat from the home.See the attached brochures for more details and images.
Here's the Geothermal System installed in my Brother-in-Laws garage. Notice the hot water heater its using the Geothermal System to maintain a water temperature of 125 degrees, thus saving electricity. I think I got that right. .
The Geothermal System needs a couple of copper pipes to loop back to the Geo System and a couple of electrical wires to be installed for the Honeywell Management system (thermostat). and a existing hot water heater Electric timer, from the Electric Company removed..
Then it will be ready to go. Actually its ready now we used the Geothermal System Air Condition the night this picture was taken. It's a good thing my Sister-in-Law had a heating pad on my bed, I needed it. My Brother-in-Law had the thermostat set at 73 degrees. It was a Cold 73 degrees. The heating pad felt good.

Here's a picture of the Earth loop pump, Jessie installed. Simple and small . All of us was surprised how quite the Geothermal Heating and Cooling System was. We couldn't believe it was on. ie, the Air Condition, and earth loop pump. Bill Kelly and Joe installed the Geothermal Heating and Cooling System. All three of them cleaned up there mess as they made it.
The only thing left behind was a old Circuit breaker that was replaced in the utility room main electrical controller box. Fred said he could use it for something. He's as bad as me. I have Computer parts all over the place.
By the way the Geothermal System has a CPU central processing unit in it. So does your Computer your, using to read this from. Does your existing unit have a CPU?

I didn't get pictures of the outdoor loop system and of Bill, Joe and Jessie doing their thing. I had my Kodak with me to take pictures of the family and of course Peyton Manning and crew of the Indianapolis Colts, mostly for the Colts. The Manufactures have plenty of information for your research, As well as the Tax savings you will incur.

How many years did it take to manufactue theses, light bulbs?
Lori is smilling because she can plant more flowers where the AC unit was.

Fred and I were outside on the patio and couldn't help but notice the obvious noise coming from a conventional air conditioning unit next to a home a few doors away! That noise is eliminated by the new Geothermal system.

Residential Hot Water
In addition to space conditioning, geothermal heat pumps can be used to provide domestic hot water when the system is operating. Many residential systems are now equipped with desuperheaters that transfer excess heat from the geothermal heat pump's compressor to the house's hot water tank. A desuperheater provides no hot water during the spring and fall when the geothermal heat pump system is not operating; however, because the geothermal heat pump is so much more efficient than other means of water heating, manufacturers are beginning to offer "full demand" systems that use a separate heat exchanger to meet all of a household's hot water needs. These units cost-effectively provide hot water as quickly as any competing system.
